monthly statistics for commodities – May 2020

In this post I will provide You a monthly statistics for some commodities. It can be useful for swing traders and to find a seasonality on commodities market.

I provide three type of data: for maximum-time period, for past 30 years and for past 10 years. It’s twelve commodities and if there is strong numers (above 70% for long-term and above 80% for 10-years period) I add also an average rang if there is a strong statistic.

  • Brent crude oil:

    10-year period: 70% short
  • WTI crude oil:
    36-year period: 50/50
    30-year period: 57% short

  • Natural Gas:
    43-year period: 67% long
    30-year period: 53% long

    10-year period: 60% short
  • Gold:
    48-year period: 56% long
    30-year period: 50/50

    10-year period: 70% short
  • Silver:
    56-year period: 52% short
    30-year period: 53% short

    10-year period: 70% short
  • Cotton:
    60-year period: 50/50
    30-year period: 60% short

    10-year period: 70% short
  • Orange Juice:
    52-year period: 63% long
    30-year period: 70% long – average range +6,75%

    10-year period: 60% long
  • Cocoa:
    60-year period: 57% short
    30-year period: 57% short

  • Sugar:
    118-year period: 57% long
    30-year period: 57% long

    10-year period: 70% short
  • Coffee:
    47-year period: 53% short
